Service of Healing

October 17th at 7:00 pm
St. John’s Lutheran Church

A Service of Healing will be held on Thursday evening, October 17th at 7:00 pm in the sanctuary at St. John's Lutheran Church located at 5952 Franconia Road  Alexandria, VA. On the church’s calendar, October 18th is the feast day of St. Luke, the beloved physician, so the eve before this day is an especially appropriate time for a Service of Healing to take place. You are invited to come with whatever healing need you may have of body, mind, or spirit, and bring that need before the Lord. Friends, co-workers, and neighbors are welcome and invited as well. Members of St. John’s Prayer Team will be on hand to pray after the service with those who desire one-on-one prayer.

If you have any questions, please contact St. John’s at 703-971-2210 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

exploreGod

Sundays at 9:30 am, continuing through Oct. 20

We all have questions about God, faith, and purpose. What if there was a safe place to ask? There is now! It’s called “exploreGod.” You can participate by listening to the sermon series or joining the exploreGod discussion group, led by church member Jonathan Halls, a professional facilitator, beginning today at 9:30 am in the Great Room.

For 7 weeks we’ll explore these questions: Does life have a purpose? Is there a God? Why does God allow pain and suffering? Is Christianity too narrow? Is Jesus really God? Is the Bible reliable? Can I know God personally? Each week is an independent discussion so feel free to attend every session or come as you are able.

Take an exploreGod postcard and invite a friend or neighbor to join us for the sermon series, discussion group, or both. Postcards are located in the Narthex and at the Welcome Desk.

We are excited about this new series and hope you will consider participating.

Faith Aid's 2019 Move Mountains Festival

November 16th, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Faith Like a Mustard Seed Farm, Leesburg, VA

OSWLC members, Jacob and Lauren Fraher, would like to invite you to Faith Aid's 2019 Move Mountains Festival at Faith Like a Mustard Seed Farm in Leesburg, VA on Saturday, November 16, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Join Faith Aid for an afternoon of live-music (you may recognize Mark Wood and Sara Carlin!), drinks, hors d'oeuvres, and fellowship as we reach children in Kenya with life-saving healthcare.

Jacob and Lauren lead Faith Aid, a nonprofit organization founded on Christ’s promise, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move” (Matthew 17:20).  In Sub-Saharan African, 1 in 9 children die before age five, often from a treatable condition. Through prevention and treatment, Faith Aid moves mountains for suffering children and their families. Faith Aid’s vision is a world where no child dies from treatable or preventable conditions.

You can read more about Faith Aid and register for the event at www.faithaid.org. If you want to get involved, please reach out to Jacob Fraher at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
