Cooks, crafters, and creative minds needed for VBS!

Here’s a safari shout out to those who want to help, but can’t be there in the evenings! The Hungry Herd Café Menu is set!  Now we need helpers to donate and prepare food. And we need help to run the Café!

Click on VBS Dinner Donations to find the menu and the items that you can donate. Prepped as listed is best, but If you can’t prep them, make a note, and we will get it done at VBS. We don’t have much cold storage space, so having things arrive in the afternoon they are needed is best. We need at least 5-6 people nightly to set up, finish preparing the meal and clean up. Come around 4:00 pm and leave by 6:00 pm.

We are looking for donations to create programs, and it’s also time to start the big decorating projects! You can find the program needs at VBS-Program-Decorating. You can drop your donations anytime-sooner is best! Some items need to be made into something else! Pick up things to work on at home, or work on them here. Room 15 is our VBS "Safari Base Camp!"

Grace Place Classes Take a Summer Break!

Sunday, June 9th, was the last meeting of our regular school year Sunday children's Grace Place. We are encouraging families to use this break to worship together. Children may not truly have a sense of belonging to the family of God until the church becomes a child's place of worship. Nurture in both studying the Word of God and the act of worshiping together are both important in the faith formation of young and old alike. They learn how to worship as you model worship for them and help them engage in the parts of the service. Watch for tips and resources for worshiping together this summer.

See you in worship this summer!

Bridges - The Study of Islam and Christianity Bible Study

Sundays at 9:30 am
Room #3

Please join Pastor Peterson for his Bible study regarding Islam and Christianity called "Bridges" at 9:30 am in classroom #3. Bridges will equip believers to share their Christian beliefs with their Muslim neighbors with compassion and understanding. Sessions lead participants to learn to bridge the Gospel, understand the New Testament's credibility, understand Jesus' sacrifice, and much more. It demystifies Islam for believers who have no knowledge of basic Islamic belief.

If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Peterson.

"Salaam Isa" Mission Society

Faith Stories from the Field: Recently, an Egyptian woman came to faith in Jesus and left Islam. Due to family pressures, she sought refuge in a Coptic monastery. She suffers from sexual abuse trauma and is giving up on finishing studies as a social worker because she fears being found out as a secret believer of Jesus. While she worries about separation from her aging parents and younger sibling, she also confesses wanting to restore a relationship with a boyfriend whom she mistreated. She faces so much uncertainty she feels "like a leaf fluttering in the wind." Still, she desires to know Jesus more and more. Despite her fears, she is choosing to be baptized. She also is taking baby steps to switch from a very large secular university to attending a small Christian college this fall.

I invite you to pray for inner healing and persons of peace to surround this new sister in Christ. Want to learn more about sharing Jesus with Muslims? Check out the link below or contact Yvette Moy, fieldworker with Crescent Project, an organization committed to sharing Christ’s love with Muslim people.

New For The Fall - Doing Life Together Groups

This fall we are starting a new series of small groups at Our Savior’s Way called "Doing Life Together" or DLT groups. A DLT group is not a Bible study, but a group where people can have honest conversations about faith, share their understanding of God, and the purpose of life. These groups will meet in people’s homes, in restaurants, at work, or wherever people are comfortable and can share fellowship with each other.

Each DLT group will focus on these five questions:

  1. Seeking the Kingdom – How did you see God at work this week?
  2. Hearing from Jesus – What has Jesus been teaching you in His Word?
  3. Talking with People – What kind of conversations have you been having with people to share your faith?
  4. Doing Good – What good can we do around here?
  5. Ministering through Prayer – How can we help you in prayer?

Our goal is to start five new DLT groups this fall. Please keep this ministry in your prayers.

For more information, contact Pastor Peterson.

Haiti Ministry Update

Last week the twelve Haiti mission team members spent time with Dr. Franco and the children at Generations of Hope (Go-Haiti) orphanage in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. They were able to take 13 suitcases filled with clothes, hygiene products, diapers, children’s activities, garden supplies, pillowcase dresses (thank you Penny), a parachute, and books.

Their time was filled with projects that included: enhancing property security, working in the garden, teaching food preservation, contingency planning, and leading a Vacation Bible School. The compound wall continues to be built up and raised to its planned height. Garden terraces were built, and the garden from last year was cleaned and maintained. The team dehydrated mangos, papaya, and plantains, installed fire extinguishers, and trained for firefighting and fire drills. The VBS was a blessing for over 185 children. The team distributed Creole and French Bibles, served at a community feeding, attended church service at the orphanage, had a popcorn and movie night with the children, and treated the orphanage to an end-of-the-school-year s'mores party--None of the children or staff at the orphanage had ever heard of s'mores before!
The team felt at home with the incredible orphanage staff who they have come to know and love over the years. But mostly, they were blessed by every minute spent with the children playing, talking, singing, and sharing.
“Mesi anpil” (thank you very much) to all who support this ministry in so many ways including your prayers.
