Local Church Reaches Out to Community with AppleFest

As part of their annual AppleFest celebration, Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church and Open Arms Christian Child Development Center in Ashburn is extending an invitation to the community to hear about their many ministries and view the model of their new building planned for completion in the Fall of 2007. The official groundbreaking ceremony took place on June 25, 2006.

To be held from 11:00AM to 4:00 PM on September 30^th, AppleFest 2006 will feature many activities for children including Moon-bounces, face painting, puppet shows, plus other games and visits from the Police and Fire Departments. There will be local crafters and vendors including Pampered Chef, Discovery Toys, Creative Memories, and Lowery’s Farm Market. Free blood-pressure screening will also be offered.

“Families in our community are seeking pre-school and twelve-month childcare in a Christian environment” said Bill Mann, senior pastor at Our Savior’s Way, “and while we have vibrant programs for people of all ages, young people are a major focus of our ministry.”

Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church (OSWLC) began meeting in Broad Run High School on December 4, 1994. This is the third groundbreaking ceremony since that time. The first dedicated the original building in September 1999, the second added the administrative wing in March 2004 and this third groundbreaking will provide an additional 37,000 square feet to the existing structure. The $9 million expansion will house:

· a 500-seat sanctuary with pews and stone floor,

· a lower level dedicated to middle school and high school youth programs,

· additional capacity for day care, pre-school, and after school care.

“We want to make sure everyone is aware that we are expanding to add additional space to accommodate the growing needs of families in our community and to invite them to make us part of their extended family,” Pastor Mann added.

Our Savior’s Way Lutheran Church and Christian Childhood Development Center is located at 43115 Waxpool Road, Ashburn at the corner of Waxpool Road and Claiborne Parkway in the Broadlands area.
