Palm branches cannot replace true faith. Jesus enters as the promised King, not to perform our agenda, but to save us through humility, suffering, and love. Law: We want a King who solves our problems quickly and confirms our preferences. When Jesus comes differently than we expect, we drift toward disappointment or resistance. Gospel: Jesus is the King who comes for sinners, not spectators. He receives “Hosanna” and keeps walking toward the cross to truly save.

Scripture Readings John 7:37-52 – Living water offered; the crowd divides; hearts are revealed. Isaiah 44:3-5 – “I will pour water… and my Spirit…” (ESV) 1 Corinthians 10:1-4 – “They drank from the spiritual Rock… and the Rock was Christ.” (ESV) Big Idea When Jesus offers Himself as living water, we cannot remain neutral. His invitation exposes our divided hearts and calls us to honest thirst and true faith. Law: We judge by appearances, follow the crowd, and protect our assumptions, resisting the truth when it disrupts our control. Gospel: Jesus stands in the middle of our confusion and still calls, “Come.” He gives living water, the Spirit’s life, to all who trust Him.

He silences accusation, exposes every false righteousness, and sends the forgiven into a new life. Law: We either excuse our sin or weaponize the sin of others, using condemnation to avoid our own need for mercy. Gospel: Jesus absorbs the hostility of the accusers, speaks mercy without compromise, and sets the guilty free to walk in newness of life.

Gospel: Jesus gives Himself as the Bread of Life, not to manage our cravings, but to make us alive forever in communion with Him.
